Life Lesson #4 – So remember, no matter what happens in your life, good or bad, happy or sad. It was my way of Looking on the bright side of life. The key is to know when to share that humor and when to keep your mouth shut! My humor wasn’t malicious, merely light sarcasm that sometimes broke the tension of the situation and more often than not, it worked. Call it Irish wit or as my sister would say, “Gallows humor”, I’ve always been able to find humor in even the most humorless of settings. Humor was always my best coping mechanism. I remember how she laughed when together we watched Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” and the song “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” came on. She was always saying “look on the bright side of life”. A child of the Great Depression, she survived because of her sanguine personality, a trait that thankfully I inherited. Attitude is everything, my Mother would always tell me.Īlthough my Mom has died over 10 years ago, I can hear her wonderfully eloquent words of wisdom when I sometimes talk with my friends, at business networking events and especially talking with my daughters. Life can be a funny thing and then again it can be fraught with trials and tribulations.
